Painkillers and sedatives for dogs? Natural or allopathic...?
I'm looking for something very effective, for a dog who is in a lot of pain. She is a very high-strung and excitable dog who is very difficult to sedate even with allopathic medication and now that she's in pain because of a leg injury, she finds it difficult to sleep.
Are there any painkillers or sedatives that work very well? I was reading about Valerian, but are herbs safe for dogs? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Once again, I WILL check with my vet before giving her anything, so what I am looking for are simply suggestions! I love my dog and would never rely upon the Internet alone to treat any problem she might have.
I want to add that I will undoubtedly check with my vet before giving her anything, but I do need suggestions.
Here is a suggestion! Take your dog to the vet, get it properly diagnosed and the vet will give your dog the proper medication to control the problem and the pain. Never, ever give medication to a dog, unless you speak to your vet first and the vet tells you what medication to give and the proper dosage for your dog. If your dog is in Pain, then only a vet can help him find a solution to that pain!
