How do I wake up totally refreshed and feeling great?
Every morning I wake up and I feel like crap. I don't understand why. I get enough sleep (7-8 hrs). I eat mostly healthy, I take vitamins. I don't drink anything but water and green tea. Exercise everyday (walk two miles and do lunges/squats). My mattress is brand new and comfortable, but it's happened on every mattress I've ever slept on, so that has nothing to do with it. I take vitamins, I'm not depressed, don't take sleep aids.
This has been happening since I can remember. When I wake up, my body hurts and I have a headache. I just want to wake up refreshed and feel great. How can I do this? Are there any secrets?
Good Question! Now as i dont know your mental history i cant assume anything but i remember a time when i felt the same way but not because i was depressed but i just woke up feeling sick, dirty and tired.
First things first. Check the room that you sleep in:
How is the temperature in this room when you sleep? It has been proven that a colder night sleep where you need to snuggle with the blankets will make you feel refreshed in the morning. Stick with below 70 if you can.
When do you take a shower to get ready for bed? Taking a hot shower and putting on your favorite sleeping clothes(Or no clothes might make it a new experience)will make you feel like you are clean, tired and ready for sleep.
What are the sheets like in the bed you sleep in? Pure white sheets or a nice light tone of purple or blue will help you think it is really clean and a nice environment to sleep in. This goes without saying but make sure you wash those sheets once a week at least to keep them smelling fresh so you want to lay down in the bed.
Do you lay down in the bed and watch TV or read a book before you go to sleep? If so cut this out, once you take your shower it is time to sleep and make yourself do it..
Now to yourself:
How close to going to sleep are you eating? I eat before 6:00PM and do not eat anything after that, for me it seems like i am just more ready for bed like that.
What kind of noises are going on while you sleep? Do you have cars running by your house, fan going, TV sometimes or a noisy radio that wakes you up? Cut every sound you can out, perfect silence is a great medicine for sleeping you will be surprised. If you can pick up a sleeping CD, i PERSONALLY recommend the rain sounds or some gentle ocean with no bird sounds. They are very calming especially the rain.
Now for the morning:
Are you eating in the morning? It is always good to have a snack in the morning, always something Hot with something cold. Toast and eggs are wonderful and really help you get the "smell" of breakfast going.
If you are feelings sore, have you tried some morning stretches? These are wonderful, they help relieve some of that sleeping tightness you get and loosen you up for the day. Source 1 has some things you can try.
Do you take a shower in the morning? If you do this is great, a shower after your morning stretches can help clear your mind and get the sleep feel off of you and wake you up for the day.
That is all i can think of right now, but if you email me later or with any questions i can get back to you or elaborate on what i said. Good Luck and Sweet Dreams!
