Sleep Aid Temazepam

What prescription medication do you use to help you sleep?

I am curious to know I have been prescribed a few but found the only one that allows me to have restful sleep and wake up feeling like I have rested is Temazepam although this is thought to be one very addictive sleep aid although I have had no side affects from taking this, Doctors do NOT like prescribing this particular one it is becoming harder to get and if you happen to get a Doctor that will then he will only prescribe 10 at a time.
Previous medication to help sleep i has been diazepam /valium . endep 10 these seem to make me feel like so worn out the next day wake up feeling tired .Last time I was prescribed Temazepam was a script for 25/30 Xmas 2009 which i would take 1 every 2-3 nights

Temazepam (brand name RESToril) is a benzodiazepine and only indicated for short term insomnia use and over time if you use benzodiazepines chronically your body gets accustomed to them and they can become less effective, and yes they have an addictive potential. That is likely why you are having difficulty finding a doctor to right a significant quantity.

Most of the other sleep aids on the market usually help you get to sleep but when it comes to keeping you asleep aren't always as effective. (Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata)

My question for you is how often do you need to take temazepam to get to sleep.. if it is every night or almost that often then have you considered a sleep study to see if there is an underlying issue? Unfortunately insomnia is usually very different for each person and when you find something that works you want to stick with it.

The only other thing is to have a good physician/patient relationship... If a doctor knows everything you tried and the successes and failures of each method they are more likely to work with you and maybe even keep you on temazepam until the try to find a better solution. I am curious as to what you have tried already..
