
sleep aids for a teen?
well this is a complicated situation, but the basics of it are that i can't seem to fall asleep. it's not everynight, but i would say for about a week or 2 every couple of months it will take hours of just lying in bed to fall asleep, and i can never just lie still, but i can't get a perscription, because my parents don't think it's anything that serious. and honestly i don't think i need any super powerfull pills, but my parents won't really get me anything to help, cause they think it's just a phase. so i am trying to find something that can help me fall asleep but that i (a 16 year old) can get on my own.
p.s. i have tried warm milk, bananas, lavender, turkey, all these "home sleep remedies" but nothing has worked, a few nights i have even resorted to drinking nyquill, but i need to find something more reliable and better tasting than that.
Melatonin is a totally safe vitamin that's sold everywhere. Probably cheapest at Walmart. Try 3Mgs 30 minutes before bed. If that doesn't work, try 4 or 5Mg's. If you have any questions, talk to the pharmacist.
I hope you're not taking naps in the afternoon, and the bed is for sleeping ONLY. Nothing else like TV, computer, reading, etc.
